DRILLING OPERATIONS:
• Complete daily inspection and maintain required records.
• Perform all duties in a safe, professional, courteous, and conscientious manner.
• Prepares BHA and rig floor equipment for tripping, casing and cementing operation.
• Performs any other duties as assigned by Tool Pusher.
• Organizes and direct crews for special projects.
•
Keeps himself informed of all QMS, HSE MS and other Requirements by
closely observing the Read-me-file-system and closing out of Reading
Requirements allocated to him in a timely manner.
•
Ensures that all company disseminated information applicable to his
staff is communicated to them in TBTs, Safety Meetings or by means of
Procedure/Instruction training and that execution of such
communication/training is appropriately recorded as defined in
respective Procedures.
• Carries out TBT's at the
beginning of each shift and on change of operation/task and supervises
all work under his control to an extend as is necessary to ensure the
safety and integrity of staff and plant at all times.
•
Conducts all rig operations in accordance with Abraj Energy's
documented Procedures/Instructions as defined in QMS, HSE MS and
Drilling Operating Practice Manual and good Drilling Practice
Requirements as contained in IADC and Client's Drilling Manuals.
DRILING OPERATIONS:
•
Operates the drilling and hoisting equipment. The duty station in both
these operations is the driller's console which includes brakes,
throttles, clutches and various gauges.
• The driller
is able to raise and lower the drill stem, lower the casing, make
connections on both, control the mud pumps, control the speed of the
rotary table and adjust the weight on the bit at the bottom of the hole.
• By watching the various gauges closely, the driller can make adjustments as conditions require.
•
Performs additional drilling related operations such as drill deviated
hole, work stuck pipe, coring, fish for lost drill string, assist in
tests of the well, wire line logging and other special operations.
• Directs and/or assist in other operations such as slip and cut drill line; take deviation surveys, etc.
•
Controls the safe and efficient operation of the rig in compliance with
drilling Parameter set in Well Program or as advised by TP/NP.
•
Initiates and controls the execution of all daily maintenance routines
and repairs of rig machinery as dedicated to him.
•
Ensure that his staff is inducted/trained in all aspects of Company's
QMS and HSEMS, as far as applicable to them in compliance with
Procedures and Instructions as detailed in above systems.
• Manages running and cementing of casing.
•
Continuously monitors all drilling Parameter to ensure the safety and
Integrity of the well and trouble free operation of Rig Machinery and
Equipment, reports any deviation from set requirements immediately to
his TP/NP and initiates corrective measures in accordance with Abraj
Energy's documented requirements and/or TP's/NP's specific Instructions.
WELL CONTROL:
• Secures well in emergency situation.
•
Kills well (when applicable) including shut in well; complete Kill
sheet, maintain pump strokes during kill operation.
• Uses good well control procedures as outlines in the Well Control Manual.
• Ensure that updated Well Control Equipment schematic available all time at Driller Cabin.
EQUIPMENT:
• Oversees periodic inspection and lubrication of draw works, rotary and swivels.
• Oversees maintenance of derrick and associated equipment.
• Oversees operation and service of standpipe manifold.
• Oversees operation and service of drilling fluid system equipment.
• Be proficient in Safety Critical Equipment.
MANAGEMENT:
• Plans work for drill crew.
• Provides leadership.
• Provides motivation to the crew.
• Prepares hand-over notes for relief
• Advises supervisor of all current or changing conditions and advise supervisor of any requests from operator.
•
Trains the crew in the optimum safe performance of its duties and the
proper care and maintenance of the rig and drill string.
• Assists in the implementation of the preventative maintenance system (PMS) where it applied to drilling equipment.
• Attends to all administrative duties as specified for him in Abraj Energy's documented Management System.
• Ensures that good housekeeping practice is established and maintained on and around the rig.
ADMINSTRATION/TECHNICAL DUTIES:
•
Completes IADC drilling report, drilling logs, well control data sheets
and other records required by the Company and/or Client.
•
Performs calculations such as maximum allowable shut-in, casing burst
pressure, mud weight increase, initial and final circulating pressures,
hydrostatic pressure, volume, maximum allowable mud weight and ton
miles.
• Demonstrates knowledge of well control procedures and interpret and respond to down hole conditions.
• Locates information and data in cementing tables, hydraulics books, drilling manuals, etc.
• Finds information on equipment in such sources as composite catalogue, manufacture operating manual, etc.
•
Read and interpret various types of gauges, meters, and instruments
such as torque meter, weight indicator, pressure gauges, various chart
recorders.
