Chief Electrician
Job Description
• Operates, maintains and repairs switchgear.
• Operates, maintains and repairs generators/transformers/motors.
• Operates, maintains and repairs SCR and/or AC-AC systems (VFD).
• Operates, maintains and repairs U.P.S. systems.
• Supervises maintenance carried out by third party specialists.
• Maintains and repairs electrical components of the refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Maintains and repairs miscellaneous galley and accommodation appliances and equipment other than microwave ovens.
• Maintains and repairs electrical components of sewage treatment system.
• Maintains and repairs electrical heating system.
• Maintains and repairs electrical components of the hot water heaters.
• Maintains and repairs electrical components of water maker, where applicable.
• Maintains and repairs lighting system of both rig & camp.
• Maintains and repairs control systems related to mud pumps, cement pumps, rotary table, top drive, draw works and EC (Eddy Current) brake.
• Maintains and repairs all air purge pressure systems related to all drilling equipment installed in hazardous areas.
• Supervises maintenance and repair of DC motor prime movers for drilling and other equipment as may be assigned by the Tool Pusher and Drilling Superintendent.
• Supervises maintenance and operation of all solid state circuits.
• Supervises maintenance and operation of solid state and reduced volume motor starters.
• Supervises maintenance, operation and scheduled testing of all MCC protective devices.
• Maintains and repairs AC motors.
• Minimize the Down time of equipment.
• Organize and promote PMS (Preventive Maintenance System) with particular emphasis on safety.
• Maintain records and logs required by company using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Plan work of electrical crew on a daily basis.
• Supervise compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Train and evaluate subordinates.
• Control inventory and budget for electrical department.
• Co-ordinate with other departments.
• Maintain good communication with supervisors and subordinates.
Qualifications:
- Electrical Engineering Degree.
- Minimum of 12-15 years of experience in oil and gas industry.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the same position.
