OPERATIONS:
• Supervises drilling operations for Rig Superintendent.
• Assists in supervision of casing and cementing operations.
• Assists in supervision of tests of the well.
• Assists in supervising use and operation of BOP and other associate equipment.
• Assists in supervising out-of-the-ordinary drilling operations such as coring, fishing, working stuck tools, etc.
• Assists in ensuring appropriate well control measures are taken and company well control and drilling policies are adhered to .
• Assists in organization and supervision of rig and camp move.
EQUIPMENT:
• Assists in directing application of preventive and planned maintenance programs.
• Assists in keeping equipment and systems operational by setting priorities on equipment repair.
• Supervising in monitoring rig equipment and systems usage by ensuring operational parameters and limits are observed.
• Assists in supervising testing and checking of equipment and systems.
• Assists in supervising activities to ensure rig structural integrity.
• Proficiency in Safety Critical Equipment.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT AND SERVICES:
• Assists in supervision of sanitary living environment.
• Assists in supervision of food preparation, handling and storage.
EMERGENCY DUTIES:
• Secures well in emergency situation.
• Assists in directing well kill operations.
• Directs crew in other emergencies such as firefighting, H2S.
• Takes initial steps to stabilize situation and inform Tool Pusher.
MANAGEMENT:
• Oversee the carrying out of the Tool Pusher's order
• Organizes and promote PMS (Preventive Maintenance System) with particular emphasis on safety as defined in the MPP manual.
• Responsible for the on-board training and certification program.
• Assists in evaluation of crew.
• Provides leadership in Tool Pusher's absence.
• Provides motivation to supervisors and crews.
• Makes recommendations to Tool Pushers such as parts to be requisitioned, equipment to be repaired, alternative procedures that may be helpful.
• Maintain good communication of information.
• Assists Tool Pusher ensuring maintenance of logs and records.
• Assists Tool Pusher with reports.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Prepares cementing and casing programs.
• Performs all well control calculations such as mud weight increase, final and initial circulating pressure, volume, hydrostatic pressure, pressure reduction, strokes.
• Uses technical manuals or sources to find information on parts, equipment, data, and/or operating procedures using such sources as composite catalogs, cementing tables, tubular data books, equipment manuals.
• Interprets and respond to down hole conditions.
• Demonstrates knowledge of well control procedures.
• Read and interpret various types of gauges, meters and instruments such as torque meter, weight indicator, pressure gauges, various chart recorders, etc.
• Assists operator in efficient use of rig.
• Ensures subordinates know, understand and follow guidelines of the company QHSE manual, well control policies and other general operating policies and procedures.
